Many have spoken of giving value in business services and products. The importance of knowing your unique value position (UVP). Conveying the UVP, to stand apart from competition and reinforce why you and your business, services, and products are preferred.
But, defining value is as abstract as defining success. The definition is determined by the individual. Value to one may not (and probably is not) a mirror image of value for another.
Listen close, now, this is where the difference in a word (or two) makes value become crystal clear. When talking about value speak in terms of outcomes. Speak in terms of results.
I MUST give credit to Donna Toothaker of 1st VA for expanding the choices of words and making something abstract become more tangible. More solid. More logical. More accessible. And, most importantly, doable.
For those linear thinkers who need the logical steps from A to B and typically think in terms of Purpose (why are we doing this; what’s the desired goal/end result?), Plan (how will we achieve this?), and Results (analysis – did we make the goal? What can be improved?) these freshly introduced words will shine bright like a beacon. Moving from the abstract to the tangible is just what clicked for me.
Had I been giving value? Yes! My website’s home page mentions Purpose – Plan – Results. It’s a core piece of how I do business and approach all projects. It’s part of what makes working with me and my business unique. Had I been expressing my UVP to its fullest in conversations and in my marketing materials? Not always. Will that change? Absolutely!
What about you?
