Business is steady. No, really a better way to describe it is booming. You have a great mix of on-going steady work customers and fixed project work customers. The steady work keeps your base income level from dipping and the project work brings in added supplemental income. You may think everything is humming along nicely with your client roster being comfortable to, considered by most, as “full.” But, I’m here to remind you that it’s wise to “ride the wave.” Hmm? When you’re the busiest is exactly when you should be marketing the most. The most.
Yes, you read that correctly. Your business is booming so it’s time to continue marketing and even consider ramping up your marketing efforts.
Here’s why…
It’s at this tipping point that your business will progress to the next level regardless of how you define “next level.” And, your business goes through natural waves of business and while you’re riding the wave at its highest or even three quarters of the way up you WANT to build on that momentum. You’re already doing so many things right and catching the eye of prospects. Work hard, keep building, and when the dip comes (because it will), the dip may not decline too much.
If you need added help then look to bringing on a virtual assistant, a subcontractor, joint partnering with a colleague. Ah, see how that next level begins to materialize? It almost feel effortless but I know you’re working hard and building on the foundation you’ve laid for your business.
Additionally, continuous marketing will keep funneling projects to you. Some colleagues have waiting lists – for website creation, for example. From time to time I have waiting lists for ebook-to-Kindle book conversions. It’s a great, great place to be in your business.
So, ride the wave and hopefully the dips you experience will be small ones that don’t have great widths. With no wipeouts in sight. Don’t take the easy way and think that this is the time to sit back and relax when all is humming along nicely. Promoting your business should always be continuous and the wisest CEOs make their efforts scalable to ride the waves up and down.
Surfs up, dude…sorry, I couldn’t resist.
