Ruth: Welcome to the blog, Kristi. It’s great to have you here and be able to share more about you with the readers. Tell us about Adonai Business Solutions.
Kristi: Adonai Business Solutions, LLC is a full-service Virtual Business Management Firm that specializes in working with business owners who need many aspects of their business taken care of so they can do what they do best!
We are known as the go-to company when it comes to designing, documenting, implementing and then maintaining sustainable operational systems. In doing this, we are able to help our clients save time, money and the energy it takes to maintain the day to day operations of a successful business.
Ruth: Tell us what led you to consider a virtual profession. How did you get your start?
Kristi:When I became a stay-at-home mom, I wanted something to keep my mind busy and contribute to the family’s financials. The company I left asked if I would stay on as a consultant. I could work from home and they paid me more per hour. While doing this consulting work, I was researching work-from-home jobs and came across the term Virtual Assistant. I thought – wow, that is what I am doing. Hubby and I decided to finish our basement, build me an office, and the kids a play room. The contractor we hired asked what the office was for. I told him – he got more excited than I did. 😉 He became my first official VA client.
Ruth: What an awesome way to gain your first client! You truly never know how a casual conversation can open a new door. Along the way have you had a mentor or sponsor to support, guide, encourage and open doors for you?
Kristi:I would not be where I am today if it had not been for a fellow VA who mentored me in the beginning. She had posted she needed help with her Real Estate VA business. I contacted her, stating I would work for next-to-nothing if she taught me everything she knew. She did – and introduced me to the right people at the right time. My business took off from there.
Ruth: Over and over I hear stories of how giving this industry is. Virtual assistants are all about empowering others to reach their goals. If you could share a nugget of insight or bit of advice for someone considering a virtual career such as yours what would that be?
Kristi:You have to remember this is a business – not a hobby. The difference is, you pay for a hobby. A business pays you.
Ruth: Oh, that’s a good one. What advice would you offer someone thinking about becoming a virtual assistant?
Kristi:It’s all about relationship. Like any successful relationship, it takes time and patience to get to where the VA can support their client in a way that the client cannot live without them. It also goes with the earlier answer – when talking with someone you can tell if they are in business or simply doing a hobby. A business owner needs a VA who gets more excited about the client’s business than the client does (i.e. my first client).
Ruth: It’s been great hosting you here, Kristi. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
