When you’ve been in business for more than 20 years it’s natural when certain segments of your business come to an end. Change is part of growth. Some changes are easier to adapt to than others. For instance, this blog used to be called “The Naked VA” and you’ll still find various links across the Net mentioning interviews with me, being part of The Naked VA.
When I first settled on naming the blog, I wanted to strive to give readers the “naked truth” about being a virtual assistant and how I’ve infused integrity and authenticity in how I serve my clients and interact with online professionals. The Naked VA felt like a descriptive name.
As my online longevity grew and my search engine optimization (SEO) improved the reach for blog posts also grew wider. And this ignited a problem I hadn’t planned on having…landing the blog and its posts on pornographic searches and sites. Yeah, having the word “naked” suddenly proved to be a bad idea.
After much effort to continue to publish positive, motivating, and informative blog posts to distract from the bots and spammers, it became a battle I’ve tired of fighting. It’s with pleasure to rename the blog “Hello Maple” and give it a home on the MaplewoodVA.com website instead of hosting the blog on its own website.
This is a decision I’ve wrestled with for more time than I care to admit because I’ve often written blog posts for virtual assistants even though numerous others can benefit from the content. The previous site was home to resources for those working online and wanting to break-into an online career.
So, “Hello Maple” will be talking about online marketing, copywriting tips, content sharing shortcuts, and ways small businesses, coaches, real estate agents, and authors can get their messages and services in front of those they strive to support and serve. You’ll find cheery, informative, and thought-provoking posts—similar to what you’ve come to know and share—with a fresh name.
When life places bumps in the road just remember there are often alternative paths to follow. Choose a better route but hold true to your values and core messages.
