Examples of how a VA service may work:

  • A client needs to confirm sales appointments.  A listing of the appointment times is faxed or emailed to the VA.  The VA contacts each prospect and notes who is confirmed then faxes or emails the information back to the client.

  • A client needs to purchase some office equipment or furniture and emails the VA with a listing of needs.  The VA will contact several vendors, receive pricing and style information, and then email the client with the options available.

  • A client writes a letter and faxes it to the VA to be typed.  The VA types and prints the letter on the client's letterhead and mails the letter.  Or, the client needs a handbook typed.  The client mails the documents to the VA who prepares and does layout, perhaps using Microsoft Publisher, for the handbook and saves it to a cd or efile.  The VA mails the cd back or send the data electronically to the client for printing at the client's local print shop.

  • A client collects business cards or sales leads all month long.  The client sends the cards or leads to the VA who then enters the data into a database.  An updated database can then be sent via email attachment to the client.

  • A client may request a sales price sheet, a schedule, a product list, or even a certificate.  Any of these requests could be completed using desktop publishing and sent via email attachment to the client.  Clipart, other graphics or photos or color inks can be added to the item requested to produce a professional looking piece.

  • A client needs some assistance in handling the volume of email received. A VA could download all the emails, screen out any spam, take care of nonessential emails and forward items of importance to the client.

  • A client needs invoicing services only so will send an email to the VA with number of hours to be billed. The VA will prepare and mail the invoices.

  • A client has a hard time remembering birthdays and other important dates so the VA keeps a calendar and emails or phones the client with a reminder. A VA may also assist by shopping online for gifts and have them shipped to wherever the client chooses.

A VA's services are only limited by lack of imagination. After reading this short list, I'll bet you have a few ideas of how you can personally benefit from a VA's assistance.
